Who we are
Partida is a mobile app that lets chess players at a participating bar see who else is coming, offer each other a game, and get free tickets to chess evenings. The data controller is Alexey Kureev, NIF Z3001548F, Carrer de Maria Cubí 2, Barcelona, Spain. You can reach us at hola@partida.club for anything in this policy.
What we collect
- Account details. Your first name, your email address, and a profile photo. If you sign in with Apple and choose Hide My Email, we only ever see the relay address Apple gives us.
- Your chess profile. A self-reported rating, and the record of games you have played through the app.
- What you declare. The nights and hours you say you will be at a venue, when you mark yourself as present, and the game offers you send, accept or decline.
- Events and tickets. The events you take a ticket for, the type of ticket, whether you returned it, and when you were let in at the door.
- Picks. On a speed-meeting night, the people you would like to meet again. Nobody ever sees a pick on its own: the morning after, the two of you see each other only if you picked each other.
- Safety and feedback. The people you block, the reports you send with the reason you give, and what you write to us through Send feedback.
- Technical data. A push notification token, app version, device type, language, and product analytics about how the app is used.
We do not track your location. Being “at the bar” is something you tell us by tapping a button, not something the app detects.
Arriving by a link. If you install Partida from one of our links, we record which promotion and which event the link was for, with your account, to learn which promotions work. The link never says who you are.
This website. We count visits to this website without cookies and without storing your IP address. A visit is never connected to an account in the app.
Tickets on this website. You can take a free ticket on this website by signing in with Apple or Google, the same accounts the app uses. Signing in creates your Partida account with your first name and the email address Apple or Google gives us, and keeps you signed in on this browser. Once you are signed in, what you do on the website is recorded with your account, as it is in the app. The day before an event, we may email you to ask whether you are still coming, so that a seat you will not use can go to someone else. That email is about your ticket only, and we send no marketing.
Why we use it, and on what legal basis
- To provide the service — showing your name and photo to other players at the same venue so they can recognise you and offer a game, issuing your tickets, and revealing mutual picks. This is necessary to perform our contract with you.
- To send you notifications about game offers and replies. Push notifications are sent only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in your device settings.
- To keep the service working and safe — acting on reports and blocks, reading your feedback, diagnosing faults, preventing abuse, and understanding which features are used. This is our legitimate interest in running a functioning and safe product.
Who else sees your data
- Other players at your venue. Your first name, photo, rating and declared hours are visible to other Partida users at the same bar. That is the entire point of the app. Your email address is never shown to them.
- People going to the same event. Other ticket holders see that you are going, but never which type of ticket you hold. The event’s host sees the ticket holders and their tickets, so they can let you in.
- Our service providers. Supabase (database, authentication and file storage), Expo (push notification delivery and app updates), and PostHog (product analytics). They process data on our instructions only.
- Apple and Google, if you use their sign-in, under their own privacy policies.
Reports stay between you and us: the person you report is never told who sent it. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising. Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area; where they do, transfers are covered by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, we delete your profile, photo, declared hours, tickets and picks. A pick that was not returned is deleted a day after the reveal. Records of games played may be retained in a form that no longer identifies you, and we may keep limited data, such as a report, for as long as we need it to keep people safe or are legally required to.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or send it to another provider. You can delete your account at any time from within the app, or email us and we will do it for you.
If you think we have handled your data badly, please tell us first — but you are also entitled to complain to the Spanish data protection authority, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (aepd.es).
Children
Partida is built around meeting people in bars and is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a minor has an account, email us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data we will update this page and, where the change matters, tell you in the app before it takes effect.
