Terms & Conditions

These terms
Partida is operated by Alexey Kureev, NIF Z3001548F, Carrer de Maria Cubí 2, Barcelona, Spain. By creating an account or using the app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use Partida.
What Partida is
Partida shows you who is coming to a participating bar, lets you offer them a game of chess, and lists chess evenings you can get a free ticket for. It is an introduction, not a chess server or a messaging app.
We are not the bar. Participating venues are independent businesses. We do not run them, staff them, guarantee they are open, or control what happens inside them. Their house rules, opening hours and prices are theirs, not ours.
Events and tickets
Every event is run by its host, usually the bar. Tickets are free and issued through the app on the host’s behalf. A ticket gets you to the door, not past the house rules: the host decides who comes in, and may change or cancel the event. If you cannot make it, please return your ticket so someone else can have the seat.
Speed-meeting nights. Some evenings end with picks: you privately mark the people you would like to meet again. The morning after, the app shows you only the people who picked you back. A mutual pick is an invitation to another game — nothing more is promised, and a pick is never a rating of anyone.
Who can use it
You must be 18 or older, because Partida is used in licensed premises. You need to sign in with Apple or Google, and you agree that the information on your profile — your name, photo and rating — is honest. Profiles exist so that a stranger can recognise you across a room; a profile that makes that impossible defeats the purpose.
Meeting people in person
This is the part worth reading twice. Partida helps you arrange to meet people you may not know, in public places, to play chess. You do so at your own risk. We do not verify anyone’s identity, run background checks, or vouch for any user. Use the same judgement you would use meeting anyone from the internet: meet in the venue, stay in public, and leave whenever you want to.
If someone makes you uncomfortable, you can decline or ignore any offer without explanation, block them from their profile, and report them to us in the app or at hola@partida.club.
How to behave
You agree not to use Partida to:
- harass, threaten, impersonate or intimidate anyone;
- keep pressing someone who has declined an offer or has not picked you;
- upload a photo that is not of you, or that is offensive or unlawful;
- recruit, sell or promote anything;
- collect other users’ information, or use the app through automated means;
- interfere with the service or try to access parts of it you are not meant to.
There is no chat in Partida, which removes most of the ways people are unpleasant to each other online. What remains happens face to face, at a table, in a bar — behave accordingly.
Your content
Your photo and profile stay yours. You give us permission to display them inside the app to other users at the same venue or event, for as long as your account exists, so the app can do its job. Delete your account and that permission ends.
Your account
You are responsible for your account and for keeping access to your Apple or Google sign-in secure. You can delete your account at any time from within the app. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and we will tell you why unless there is a legal reason not to.
Availability
Partida is free, and provided as it is. We do not promise it will be available without interruption or free of faults, and we may change or discontinue features. We will give reasonable notice before withdrawing the service entirely.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for anything that happens between users, for what happens at a venue or an event, or for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your rights as a consumer under Spanish law.
Privacy
How we handle your personal data is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; if a change matters we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. These terms are governed by Spanish law, and disputes fall to the courts of Barcelona, without affecting any right you have as a consumer to bring proceedings where you live.
